Using 'Frottage' - an image transfer technique made by rubbing graphite across paper, this project captured a full alphabet of real world letterforms taken from cast-iron utility covers aka Manholes. Each letter tells the story of time and place, the use and abuse of the weather, people and vehicles that move across them year after year.
